Hello Fellow Poets and Writers!
Thank you for your interest in TSU’s annual poetry festival, “I Want to Write.” My name is Dr. Michelle J. Pinkard, and I am the event coordinator. Together, officials with Southern Word and I aimed to produce a program that is illuminating and fruitful. We look forward to your contribution and creativity.
In the meantime, I want to help you prepare for your visit to our campus. Please make note of the following:
Again, we are looking forward to your arrival. There will be plenty of opportunities to share your work, and to discuss your process. To that end, we encourage you to bring your notepads, journals and imaginative spirit.
Poetically Yours,
MJP

Together, officials with Southern Word and I aimed to produce a program that is illuminating and fruitful. We look forward to your contribution and creativity.
In the meantime, I want to help you prepare for your visit to our campus. Please make note of the following:
- Most of the events will take place in/near Poag Auditorium, which is located in the Humanities Building on the Main Campus (3500 John A. Merritt Boulevard, Nashville TN 37209). It is the building with the bell tower at the center of campus. For your convenience, I am attaching a campus map to this email; We are in building #11.
- Parking has been arranged for visiting attendees in the Performance Arts Center Lots. Members of the TSU community are encouraged to park in other lots. For those unfamiliar with the campus, I know this sounds complicated. But, really, the campus is designed in a circle, and it is fairly easy to navigate once you enter. Be sure to download the parking permit below on the left side of your vehicle's dashboard.
- (More Parking Options) Visitor parking is also located in the John Merritt Plaza (corner of Merritt Blvd. and 33rd Avenue North across from Hale Stadium and airplane/side entrance to Kean Hall. Street parking is also an option (one side of 33rd Avenue North and/or 32nd Avenue North between Merritt and Alameda Streets).
Again, we are looking forward to your arrival. There will be plenty of opportunities to share your work, and to discuss your process. To that end, we encourage you to bring your notepads, journals and imaginative spirit.
Poetically Yours,
